To celebrate Soha’s 25th anniversary in July, the housing association is running a series of free creative writing workshops with the aim of bringing communities of our residents and non-Soha residents together. It is for anyone who lives anywhere where Soha has homes, including Henley.
‘Playing with Words’ is professionally-led – by Kevin Campbell Davidson (pictured) of The KCD Collective – and free and aims to encourage creativity on the theme of ‘community’ in anything to do with words, whether sung, spoken or written. The project will culminate in a gala evening in July 2022 at Didcot’s Cornerstone Arts Centre and those who wish to work something up with Kevin are welcome to perform if they wish.
Sessions are continuing online at the moment, and there are two coming up within the next fortnight: Wednesday 19 and Saturday 22 January, both 2 – 5pm.
The invitation can be extended in a further seven languages, thanks to the help of Henley’s Quartotranslations.com. Soha’s Liz Roberts says: “We want to encourage as many people as possible from all cultures and backgrounds, Soha residents or not, to participate: to have some fun, to learn new creative skills and inspire each other while maybe meeting new people. There will be further mentoring, again all free, for anyone who would like to work up a piece for performance, or just continue exploring newly-found talent.”
Contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0800 014 15 45 and ask for Liz or Andrea to find out more, to pick up an invitation in another language, or to book.
