Tennis Club Head Coach Wins Development Coach of the Year
Head Coach at Henley Tennis Club has been awarded the LTA Development Coach of the Year for Oxfordshire.
Each Year the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) highlight achievements and contributions people have made across Britain with the ‘Annual LTA Tennis Awards’. The LTA Tennis Awards celebrate the achievements made by outstanding individuals and venues in tennis throughout the past year. From grassroots tennis to elite performance. They present a great opportunity to say ‘Thank you’ to those who generously give their time to the sport.
Henley Tennis Club were among the nominees for LTA Club of the Year. Henley Tennis Club, who are now in the final stages of their floodlight installation, unfortunately missed out to Oxford Sports Lawn Tennis Club.
Tom has been at Henley Tennis Club now since 2020 and has made a great impact from getting players into County squads and teams, raising £3,000 for Henley Nomad Project, Lockdown Live Tennis @ Home lessons, running Tennis Leaders Courses for young aspiring teenagers as well as developing an innovative coaching programme for both Juniors and Adults. He now goes through to regional stage where he will go up against winners from other counties in the region including our neighbours in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.
Tom said “I was so pleased that the club was nominated for Club of Year, as everyone works so hard behind the scenes. Ever since I started in 2020 I have been made to feel very welcome from the committee, the members and the Henley community. I am grateful to them for all the support they have shown and to everyone who nominated me for Development Coach of the Year. There is so much to look forward to and 2022 is going to be an exciting year for the club.”
