Grandparents Treated to Cuppa and Large Spoonful of Entertainment

Tea, cake and entertainment was back on the menu for Grandparents of children at Valley Road School on Wednesday this week after two years of the Grandparents tea party not being able to be hosted.

Each class and the choir entertained with songs including Dancing in the Streets from Year 5 and Sing a Rainbow sung by Year 1.

Sian, travelled an hour and half to come from Gloucester to see her granddaughter, Harper in Reception. “It’s my first time here and I think it’s a lovely idea.  Not being local means I don’t get to come into school or pick up Harper from her school so it’s lovely to come into school and see not only her year but all the years.  It’s been absolutely wonderful and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it.”

Headteacher, Tim Coulson said, “We’ve been doing this for around 10 years now.  We weren’t able to obviously do for the last two years.  It is the highlight of the year. Some of the grandparents come a significant distance to be here and some we see here regularly.  We wish we could have everybody but we’re really grateful for whom we have here and it’s always a warm welcoming event.
