A talented group of judges has been announced for the first Henley Illuminated Boat Parade taking place on Saturday (24 September) evening.
Debbie McGee, Bethan Toop, Dhani Harrison and Henley Mayor Michelle Thomas will be joined by presenter Mike Read and Chairman Andy Trotman. Ex Top of the Pops and DJ, Mike Read will provide commentary on the proceedings.
The 40 boats entered will parade upriver from Fawley Meadows at 7.30pm, past Phyllis Court and a colourfully lit Boathouse Row to Henley Bridge where they will turn and pass Leander before going down river and turning again for a second circuit. Resident, Chris Taylor is bringing this new event to the Henley calendar after recently moving to Henley. He started and organised the Illuminated Parade in Cookham in 2015, which quickly became very popular, with the last parade being watched by hundreds of spectators, until halted by Covid restrictions.
Leander Club will be open to the public for the evening with food and drinks for sale from 7.oopm. The parade will start at 7.30pm.
Prize giving will be at Leander at about 9.00pm There is even a prize for the best lit spectator.
Free viewing for all spectators along the towpath outside Leander down to Phyllis Court and from Thameside downstream from the bridge.
There will be free glowing wrist bands for children while stocks last.
