Principal and Founder Emma-Jane Taylor said “It is always a joy to see young people performing, losing themselves in make-believe. During the young informative years, it is this education that can develop so much of their self-belief, determination and confidence, regardless of whether they go on to performing arts as a career. The benefits of this early development training supports young people with any career they choose in life. Matilda Jnr is a very relevant movie, and we were thrilled to produce this for the students of StageWorks Performing Arts School. We have been in business for 22 years, two of them were the CV19 years, but all of them brilliant fun. My team focus on giving a balance of performance, presentation and technique skills to the young performers. They plan focused training sessions mixed with upbeat drama games to continue the growth and confidence building of the young performers. Throughout the year we perform at Festivals, Carnivals and hold our outside productions in the summer at The Eyot Centre, Henley. Our next performance will be at the Kenton Theatre Drama Festival in May 2023 and our 2023 Christmas show will be Jungle Book. Matilda was such a fun show to produce. A few years ago, Ted Wilson, a former StageWorks student, performed as Eric in the West End version of Matilda, he then also went on to Broadway. So StageWorks have already enjoyed close links with the show over the years.”
StageWorks have an Open Day on Saturday 14 January in Henley where interested students can find out more about the classes and join, they also have free trials in January and would love to meet any young person keen to tread the boards.
StageWorks also offer financial support for any local child unable to fully fund their classes. Please speak to the admin team who can discuss this further.
