Hannah’s difficult challenges facing her at 40 features in Sunday Telegraph magazine

Hannah Wilson who lives in Henley was last week featured in The Sunday Telegraph magazine, ‘Stella’ in an article ‘The Roaring Forties’ which interviewed twelve women who were all facing different challenges in hitting their forties in thiskaren-edwards modern age. Hannah’s life over the past few years has been very tumultuous. At 38, she had brain surgery to remove a non-cancerous growth and last year she had to have follow-up surgery. As a single mother of a seven year old son Roman, Hannah said, “It was pretty terrifying and I wasn’t sure that I was going to live.”  “Karen Edwards, the head of Sacred Heart School where Roman goes to school was a fantastic support to both of us when I was going through the brain surgery.”

Hannah was chosen from all over England to be featured in Stella magazine after she was found on mysinglefriend.com which a good friend recommended to find a new man. They were looking for a single Mum who also ran their own business. “Sometimes it’s hard to be positive about your love life. I broke up with my son’s father after my son was born.” “Her son is all for it,” Hannah says “But its different dating in your forties you’re not as fearless as when you’re in your thirties. I did meet a lovely man through Match but it was bad timing with his travels and my health. Now I believe if things are meant to be they will happen easily and naturally.”

Her doctors have given her the all clear and things are looking more positive. Hannah is just moving house and her PR business, Creative PR, is doing well.

Asked whether she feels 40, “No and I know its mean but some people are born middle-aged and it’s not bad, but it’s not for me. I still make the most of myself and go out in bright pink lipstick and a red biker jacket.”

As the saying goes…Life begins at 40
