Henley 2013 Poppy Appeal Launch
The 2013 Poppy Appeal in Henley is being launched on Saturday 2 November with Sam Brown and her Ukulele Orchestra of Sonning Common giving a performance in Market Square from 10am to 1pm.
Shirley Lees, Poppy Appeal Organiser for Henley said, “This will be a fantastic event to launch our appeal this year. In addition to poppies, enamel pins, wristbands and our other products, our Poppy Collectors will be offering poppy seeds, kindly sponsored by the local RBL branch, Toad Hall Garden Centre and the Aliquando choir. This is part of a national initiative by the Royal British Legion to encourage the public to grow poppies to bloom in August 2014 for the centenary commemorations of the start of The First World War. We are delighted that Henley is participating fully in this with the support of Henley in Bloom and the Henley Gardening Buddies.”
As well as the launch event and the Remembrance Service in Market Square on Sunday 10 November from 10.30am. Shirley has also organised the following events:
