Sacred Heart School Raises Funds for Philippines Children
Children at Sacred Heart Primary School raised over £500 for children who have become victims of Hurrican Haiyan in the Philippines. Pupils at the Henley school chose to wear their own clothes on Friday’s Children in Need day in return for a donation.
Following discussions about where the money raised should be directed, pupils on the School Council, Parent Representatives and Staff chose unanimously to use the funds to help children in the Philippines, in recognition of the difficulties they are currently facing. It is estimated that 4000 children have been affected since Hurrican Haiyan struck.
Head Teacher, Karen Edwards, said: “We wanted to show our support for Children in Need and were unanimous in our desire help children in the Philippines, whose plight has really touched our hearts over the last week. We are very grateful for the generosity shown by our pupils and their parents.”
