What the Dickens?…Wins Christmas Window Competition

Laurence Morris from Laurence Menswear was delighted to win first prize in the Christmas Shop Window competition yesterday.  Having been runner up in the summer competition he couldn’t believe it when the Mayor turned up to present his prize.

Laurence had decided that he was going to put a motorbike in the window for Christmas before the theme of ‘Dickens’ was announced.  He has borrowed the bike from Fiona, his sales assistant’s partner, he then made one half of the window with clothes from the Dickensian age including a top hat and the other half  with current styles. To complete the design he added the cheeky line across the window…What the Dickens? to really highlight the theme.

window-comp-2Cannelle Beaute salon in Hart Street came second in the competition with a beautifully decorated Dickensian Christmas tree and books and in third place was Rive Gauche the dress shop, also in Hart Street.  The Mayor also gave a special prize to Barbara Easton for their window with window-comp-3a very large silver boot on display.

The competition is organised by Carolyn Molyneux of Delegate Office & Conference Services and the judging panel included the Mayor and Mayoress, Peter McConnell; Henley’s Town Centre Manager, Tom Bulgarelli from Precious Love and Karen Viljoen from Milton Gordon Financial Advisors.  The organisers would like to thank Hotel du Vin for sponsoring the winning bottles of champagne again this year.
