Living Advent Calendar Day 16 – Swinging Some Swell Sisters

Photos: Dave Murray

The Some Swell Sisters; three gorgeous young ladies (Abbey Norman, Kate Skellern and Katy Anderson) performed songs from the Big Band Era of the 1940s last night at Hotel du Vin. They harmonised beautifully and put on a superb performance as they performed such numbers as Chattanooga Choo Choo, one of Glenn Miller’s most famous tunes. Dave Murray who went along last night for the Herald personally found it quite poignant as the day before was the anniversary of Glenn Miller’s passing when he disappeared in a light aircraft over the English Channel on 15 December 1944. The room was packed and the hotel laid on some superb nibbles and drinks.  The Living Advent Calendar would like to thank both Hotel du Vin for being the host and for Precious Love for partnering on this evening.

The raffle prize last night was also provided by Hotel du Vin – a lunch for two in the Bistro restaurant.  There’s a raffle every night which raises money for the four local charities; Henley Youth Centre, British Legion Poppy Appeal, Regatta for the Disabled and Oceans Project.

Hotel du Vin would love you to be there guest at a Christmas party at the hotel.  The three course party menu is only £29.50 per person or how about going on Christmas Day or for New Years Eve? For full details go to http://www.hotelduvin.com/locations/henley-on-thames/christmas/

There’s only eight nights left of the Living Advent Calendar – why not join us tonight at the Henley College for the 17th surprise performance?  It starts at 6.15pm prompt.
