On Tuesday Julie Perigo, Chair of the Living Advent Calendar was delighted to present four cheques of £1,014 to the chosen local charities – the Regatta for the Disabled, the British Legion Poppy Appeal, Oceans Project and Henley Youth Centre.  The total raised was the about the same as last year which was double the amount of the first year.

Julie will be handing over this community initiative to a new organisation as she is planning to work overseas for next couple of years.  When we asked Julie about plans for this year, she replied “I am currently talking to several businesses about organising it and we hope to have things in place around Easter when they will start to look for venues.”

Ian Tritton, Chair of the Regatta for the Disabled said, “We’re delighted to receive this money, it will allow us to add more attractions both for less-able and able bodied people to enjoy.  We’re hoping to have bell boats for people to have a go in and perhaps some roaming attractions like a magician or a clown.”  The date for the fifth Regatta for the Disabled is on 30 August 2014.
