Wasps Sting the Red Kites

Chalfont Wasps 3   Henley Town 1

This Hellenic League Division One fixture was played on a very bumpy pitch that was in serious need of a mow saw Chalfont Wasps defeat Henley Town in this end of season encounter. The awkward journey in the rush hour for a 6-30pm kick off and work commitments hampered Henley’s team selection so the Red Kites were always going to find the match a challenge.

Chalfont dominated the first half, scoring twice through Kieran Webb and Fred Tripp. Graham Sims and John Donegan both shot wide for Henley and were the Red Kites only real chances in the first half. Chalfont added a third goal soon after the interval, Jean-Paul Jamil finding the net with a low shot. Henley attempted a late rally after Louis Howell who came on at half time, after travelling up from work in Portsmouth, fired home with a firm shot the Wasps goalkeeper could only help into the net. Karl Sims had a fierce drive pushed away by Chris Tullitt. The Wasps who always looked in control throughout the game against a tired and travel weary Henley side were happy to take the three points from this prickly encounter.
