Love ♥ Henley is excited to announce their quarterly seasonal Spring market celebrating the very best of Henley between 10am and 4pm on 12th & 13 April 2014  at Val Wyatt Marina, Willow Lane, Wargrave, as part of The Henley & Wargrave Boat Show.

As there are a wealth of great local events, this one specifically showcases high end local Henley On Thames producers, growers, artists and businesses with some unusual local crafts and services. With local rare breed hog roasts, local speciality foods, English wines, beers and spirits, Vintage Tea Rooms and the first outing of the years for lovely local Vintage Ice Cream Van Daisy; alongside workshops of locally taught skills and crafts…. do join us for a boat trip and fun family day out at the new local ‘upmarket’!

empowertocookThere will also be some Real Food – Cookery Workshops where children will learn to make bread from scratch whilst their parents browse the market .  The free cooking workshops are being run by Empower to Cook, a local social enterprise founded by chef & educator Michael Brown in one of the barns at the marina.

Using local and nutritious ingredients, kids can make their own loaf of soda bread or batch of wholemeal scones at one of three sessions 11am, 12:30pm and 2pm that will be offered each day. Workshops are free of charge and take approximately 40 minutes but advance booking via info@lovehenley.com is recommended. For more information contact Empower To Cook www.empowertocook.co.uk

The Big Dog Bed Company and diBosco will also be at Love Local.  They have developed a new line together of new oak dog bed frames made  which will be launched at the Boat Show.

Dru Ross of the Nuffield based Big Dog Bed Company says ”We are really pleased to be able to work with local woodbig-dog-bed artist, Dominic Chiappe to be able to offer these gorgeous bed frames. It is great to be working with a local business to develop a new product line which hopefully will prove to be popular.”

Dominic Chiappe of Di Bosco, who is making the bed frames at his Fawley workshop says, “This is an interesting new line for me and it fits well with the other items that we make. In the future we also hope to offer dog bed frames made using the natural form of the wood for a more organic style of bed.”

Alison Hussey, the energy behind the Love Henley initiative, has said “This is exactly the type of local synergy we hope to stimulate through our buy local campaigning and the events we put in place to showcase local businesses.”

Two sizes of dog bed frame will be available to fit the medium (105 x 75cm) and large (120x 85cm) Foam and Soft Top beds made by the Big Dog Bed Company. In addition, oak frames can also be made for bespoke dog beds. The frames are oil finished to bring up the natural wood grain and to make it easy to touch up any scratches due to dog claws.
