It was SUPER Fete Saturday in Henley this weekend with three schools holding their annual summer fetes – Trinity, Badgemore and Shiplake Primary and Pre-School. All three events had big crowds enjoying the sunshine.
At Trinity School there were was welly wanging, an unusual stall to hunt for fossils, a hair and nail salon, a big bouncy assault course and the fantastic foam slide which was a HOPs last summer which the kids loved. During the afternoon their was a gym display and a Scooterathon.
Ye Olde Medieval Fayre was the theme for this year’s Shiplake fete with medieval stalls including archery, wet sponge throwing stocks and cannon firing! The fete opened with live music from the local Drum Club and was followed by some great entries for the Medieval Wacky Wheels and Fancy Dress. Other performances in the arena during the afternoon included Stageworks, a Doggy Joust Dog Show and Shiplake Primary performing a medley of Medieval dancing. There was also the annual classic car show – great for all those motor enthusiasts.
Jacky Steele, the new Headteacher at Badgemore School really joined in the fun at her first fete, offering herself up for some wet sponge throwing. Other attractions at this fete were Beat the Goalie, Hook the Duck and Climb Aboard a Military Vehicle plus lots of others. There was also a great Bollywood Dance performance from children who had just started learning this over the last few weeks.
