Working Group Clear Gillotts Field of Ragwort

gillotts-field-2On Saturday a working group of members from the Henley Wildlife Group, Henley in Transition and Henley Gardening Buddies cleared Gillotts Field of the Ragwort weed.

Sally Rankin from the Wildlife Group said, “The Town Council have agreed to leave areas of the field unmowed until the wildflowers have flowered if we organise the pulling of the Ragwort which is poisonous to horses, damaging the liver when eaten.  We are pleased to see that we are getting some more unusual flowers in the field such as the wild orchid and the hawkweed (see below).
