Brakspear are delighted to announce that they have been shortlisted for British Beer & Pub Association Heart of the Community Award.  Their submission ‘Busy Brakspear Bees’ showcased all the fantastic community initiatives they have been involved in this year which have included the Henley in Bloom, ‘Blooming Marvellous’ beer and The Bee Cause where they partnered with Friends of the Earth to support their Save the Bee campaign by giving their pubs flower seeds to grow in their gardens to attract bees.  They also partnered with Henley Swim to sponsor the new Club to Pub Swim and are looking forward to promoting the second Henley Jazz and Blues Festival in November which will attract visitors to Henley outside of the summer months.

The judges of the Heart of the Community Award are looking for a company which – through their own corporate initiatives or leading-edge partnerships has demonstrated a proven commitment to their local community. Entries could include initiatives to promote social responsibility, engagement with social, community, charitable and voluntary groups, alongside support for regional/national business development, environmental challenges overcome or evidence of how companies have demonstrated they are intrinsic to their local community. Judges will be looking to celebrate companies that have exercised leadership in helping to shape the ‘big society’.

Brakspear are up against Enterprise Inns, Carlsberg UK, Sharps Brewery and St Austell Brewer. We would like to wish Brakspear good luck at the Awards evening on 9 October in London.

Emma Sweet, Marketing Manager for Brakspear said, “It’s an honour to be short-listed for this award. It shows that Brakspear have come a long way in the past couple of years, that we’re able to not only enter awards like this, but also make it through to the final.”
