Countdown to the Living Advent is Very Much On

day22-11With only 10 weeks to go until the start of this year’s Henley Living Advent Calendar, preparations as one might expect are at a very advanced stage. The 24 venues have been in place for some time and Richard Rodway, Chair of the Henley Living Advent Calendar Trust, commented that he was delighted that some new venues were involved this year in the form of Henley Hawks Rugby Club, Henley Cricket Club and the Bandstand at Mill Meadows, whilst being very grateful for the continued and enthusiastic support or some familiar venues to the event.

Virtually all of the performers are now in place as well. There may be room for one or two more, so anyone who is interested in getting involved should get in touch with Richard just as soon as possible. He commented that “we have a great and fairly even mix this year of some fantastic new performers and some old favourites, and with performances lasting 30 minutes this year, we hope that that will serve to enhance everyone’s enjoyment of the event even more”.

The event on 4 December at Mill Meadows has been dubbed ‘bring your dog night’ with Naughty Mutt Nice partnering for the canine friendly night, with some treats for those attending on 4 legs as well as 2.

The event on 10 December at the Regal Picturehouse will also see the screening of the finalists of the Film Competition, and by introducing 3 separate age categories this year, it is hoped that the judges will have a bumper selection of short (up to 2 minute long) films on the theme of ‘Henley in autumn / winter’ to consider.

Richard went on to comment “Ultimately, the success of the event hinges upon the enthusiasm and contributions of all those involved, and if someone is interested in getting involved there are all sorts of ways they can do that, and we would love to hear from them, whether that be marshalling, providing a prize for the raffle, performing, partnering with a venue, sponsoring the event, entering the film competition or helping out with leaflets, photography and so on.”
