Springbox Gymnastics Club in Henley celebrated their 25th anniversary on Sunday with special guest, Olympic Bronze Medallist, Beth Tweddle. Caroline Sweetman, Head Coach and Owner of Springbox has been teaching children from Henley for all of the last 25 years. She started the club for her children who now have their own children themselves and who help out at the club too. Caroline has a great passion for gymnastics and teaching children and also has be known to perform herself since the love of the sport when she was at school.
The 25 year anniversary celebrations was a family fun day for all the past and present gymnasts with fete style activities for the children, races, soak the coach performances and prize presentations. Caroline said, “It was an amazing event and we were delighted that Beth spent the whole day with us.”
In recent years with a few changes and lots of children inspired to take up the sport since the Olympic Games the club has grown in size and also has a mini squad now with a successful team competing at recreational competitions across the south. Springbox based at Henley Leisure Centre is where the gymnastics club trains 7 hours a week for children 2 years to 16 years and sometimes even adult classes with over 200 members attending each week.
After the club celebrates its 25 year anniversary, the club is looking to continue to grow. It always needs more members, coaches, equipment and a permanent home to open more hours to teach the children who are waiting. If you are a qualified British gymnastic coach or have experience with gymnastics they’d love to hear from you.
If you are interested in joining from September, looking for a part time position or do have any information regarding a suitable venue in or around Henley as a permanent home please contact Springbox on firstname.lastname@example.org or take a look on our website www.springboxgymclub.co.uk , Facebook and twitter pages.
