Children Learn About Henley WW1 Soldiers on Armistice Day
Children from Badgemore School last week welcomed Mike Willoughby from the Henley Lest We Forget project to talk to them about soldiers in World War 1 and to see a range of articles and equipment from his WW1 exhibition.
Badgemore Teacher, Tim Hoskins said, “I went to Henley Town Hall to see if I could find out more about the Henley soldiers who had died in the war and was given Mike’s details. He then brought us a couple of his books ‘Bringing Them Home’ to the school and we asked him if he would also come and talk to the children on Armistice Day which he was delighted to do. Some of the children are going to see War Horse this week so it was great for them to learn about the soldier’s kit, rifle and other pieces of equipment.”
Mike said, “The children were full of questions as one would expect. I had a most enjoyable time at the school and I can think of no more appropriate way to spend Armistice Day than telling local school children about what the “lads of Henley” had to go through.”
