New Guitar Lessons at Badgemore School
Henley Music School were delighted to receive a generous donation from Stonehouse Property Care in Henley to enable them to purchase ten new guitars for Badgemore School and are now offering individual lessons at the school on a Thursday afternoon with Stewart Lewins.
Laura Reineke, Principal of Henley Music School said, “I was getting a number of enquiries from parents from the school so I thought it would make sense if we brought a teacher into the school and provide the instruments too. I would like to thank Graham Stone and Fiona Lloyd for making this possible with their kind donation.” Olivia one of the pupils who is learning the guitar said, “My Dad plays the guitar so I wanted to be able to play with him.”
Henley Music School run a number of music lessons at schools in Henley including recorder and ukulele at Trinity School. They also have over 160 children from the area meet and play at ‘Music School Sundays’ once a month at Shiplake College which the school kindly provide the venue for free. Children from aged 6 can start to enjoy choir, mini drum, mini recorders and mini musicianship. New this year is a Music Tech group which is proving popular with the older children who learn how to set up a stage for a band and use ‘Garage Band’ a music app to compose and create music.
Laura said, “The school is continually growing and evolving. I would like to start other clubs too including a toot club (a great little instrument to get started on for learning the flute), a cello and brass club.”
The Henley Music School is a not-for-profit organisation and relies on donations to fund it. They are holding a fundraising Dinner event at Shiplake College on Saturday 28 November. Tickets are £60 and include a 3 course meal with a drink on arrival and a live band.
