A retro pink Nevada Stratocaster guitar and a programme signed by 20 celebrities has been presented to Sue Ryder to be auctioned to help us provide incredible hospice and neurological care.
Sue Ryder was the chosen charity partner for Rewind Festival for 2014 and 2015, the world’s biggest 80’s music festival. This significant partnership helped to raise over £15,000 and will make a huge difference to the lives of thousands of people across the UK living with an incurable illness that requires specialist care.
During the festival over 20 celebrities including Bucks Fizz, The Selecter and Carol Decker all signed a retro pink Nevada Stratocaster guitar and programme that have been presented to Nettlebed Hospice to be auctioned. Henley is the heart of Rewind Festival and it is also the heart of hospice care with Sue Ryder – Nettlebed Hospice.
Stewart Marks, Sue Ryder Nettlebed Hospice Director said:
“People love the 80’s, the great music and fashion. Since launching five years ago the Rewind Festival has grown and is now an annual pilgrimage for thousands of people, so it’s great that we can bring a bit of festival fun to hospice care. This signed guitar and programme will make a fantastic Christmas gift for the 80’s music fan in your family. It will be auctioned off in December, helping raise even more vital funds to help support the care provided here in the Henley area from Nettlebed Hospice, and by Sue Ryder hospices around the country.”
Billy Hearn, from Rewind Festival who visited Sue Ryder Nettlebed Hospice to present the guitar and programme said:
“On my visit to Sue Ryder we got to see what goes on inside of the charity. They treat all of their patients with real care and affection which made me really happy to see especially in a hospice such as Sue Ryder. We have had a strong relationship with Sue Ryder for two years now, allowing them to have a trade stand at our Festival selling clothes and festival accessories to our customers. I think it’s really important to have a strong relationship with a local charity such as Sue Ryder, as it’s nice to give back to the local community. We had the head of fundraising and the Nurse Team leader show us around at the hospice, and they truly showed us what an important and pleasant place Sue Ryder is.”
