Oompa-loompas, Little Red Riding Hood, Tintin and the Queen of Hearts were just some of the book characters children and staff dressed up on World Book Day yesterday at Badgemore, Sacred Heart and St Mary’s School in Henley.

Badgemore School encouraged parents to come along in the morning as part of their new initiative ‘Everyone Reads in Class’.  Jacky Steele, Headteacher at Badgemore School said, “We’re not only encouraging parents to read and listen to their children but asking parents to bring in a book too to show the children how much they love reading too.”

At St Mary’s School the children had to guess everyone’s characters in assembly and the children from the book club went to visit Jonkers Rare Books in Hart Street after lunch and were joined by some children from Badgemore School too.

Children at Sacred Heart enjoyed storytime with different teachers throughout the day.
