Orwell House student leaders and Mrs Michael at Gillotts School encouraged members of each tutor group to bring in items to donate for those less fortunate than themselves this Christmas. A bounteous number of items and some money donations were collected for the local charity, the Light House food bank which is run by NOMAD and housed within the d:two centre in the town.
The students were exceedingly pleased with the generosity of the tutor groups, with OGMO tutor group winning the prize for the best variety of items and OSEL tutor group for best box decoration.
The donations will be distributed to local families in the run up to Christmas. The School and NOMAD want to pass on their thanks to the families who sent in items to help others this Christmas, and to those students who even felt moved to donate money for the cause.
Further donations will be gratefully received and can be taken to the collecting box in the cafe in the d:two centre, Market Place, near the town hall, in Henley.
