Henley Lions Club are extremely pleased to have been presented with a cheque for £3,000 by Martyn Sheldrake, Manager of Toad Hall Garden Centre.
The funds were raised from Santa’s Grotto over the four weekends leading up to Christmas and will be used to support local children’s charities. Accepting the cheque on behalf of the club was Lion John Moore who is the club member who organises the Lions to help Santa.
This year Santa saw 994 children, a record number for the Toad Hall Grotto. Half of the entry fee of £6.00 for each child to visit Santa goes to the Henley Lions and the other half is retained by the garden centre to pay for the toys that Santa gives to each of the children.
John Moore said, “We didn’t quite reach the 1000 children figure but Martyn kindly made up the difference to give us the full amount of £3,000. This is the eighth year that Henley Lions have worked with Toad Hall to make it possible for children to visit Santa.”
