Mums in Henley will no longer have to find childcare when going to the gym, thanks to a free exercise class that launches at Henley Leisure Centre this month.
Buggy-a-cise is a new exercise class for parents and babies that uses the buggy as part of the work out. Ideal for new mums looking to get out of the house, socialise and get back into shape without the worry or expensive of having to organise childcare.
The sessions are being run by Active Women, who encourage more women in Oxfordshire to take part in sport by providing social, fun, local and affordable sessions at various venues across the county. All sessions are suitable for beginners or people returning to physical activity or sport and are run by qualified coaches and instructors.
Tom Nicholson, General Manager at Henley Leisure Centre comments: “We’re delighted to be able to offer new mums in and around Henley the opportunity to try this unique new activity. It’s a great way for parents to exercise whilst involving their child, as well offering a great opportunity to socialise and make new friends.”
Louise Smith, Buggy-a-cise participant at Better Didcot Leisure Centre, where the session is already established said: “The class is physically demanding and you get a real sense of achievement after finishing. I enjoy the social aspect of it too getting to know the other parents and their babies. Also, the fact that you are able to feed your baby and don’t have to worry if they have a meltdown halfway through the class creates a really relaxed atmosphere. I would definitely recommend the class to others.”
The first session will take place on Thursday 23rd March between 9.45 – 10.45am and is free for leisure centre members. Non-members are still able to participate at a cost of £4.20 per class and can also enjoy a first free taster class.
