Last week Rupert House celebrated Arts Week and the children were involved in a number of different arts activity throughout the few days. Visiting artists included: Paul Priestly (as Mr Picasso); Chris Marshall (drumming workshops); Matthew McLoughlin from ‘West End in Schools’ (dance workshops); Fleur Wells (Lower School art workshops) and Steph Maxwell (Early Years and Year 1 dance workshops). The whole week finished with a celebration assembly where children were able to share some of the fantastic work they had created.
Mrs Poulter, Head of Art at Rupert House School said, “The Upper School were very lucky to experience a day’s workshop with the artist Paul Priestly who was entirely believable as he took on the role of Pablo Picasso. He took us on a journey through the artist’s life in a humorous and interactive way. The girls enjoyed the morning’s drawing workshop where they were taught how to ‘read’ shapes and draw faces. In the afternoon they all created their own painting inspired by Picasso’s work. Everyone had a fantastic day and agreed they had learnt a great deal. The finished work was of an extremely high standard.”
