Henley Rugby Club held it’s AGM on Wednesday evening in which the management committee presented a review of the past year.
It was a poignant evening as the Club said farewell to Chairman, Mike Trethewey, who has been in the post for 4 years. A great servant to the Club, Mike will be fondly remembered for his fundraising abilities. He has also overseen the building of the new Clubhouse and has been instrumental in helping to raise the money for Phase 2 of the Dry Leas redevelopment, building the new changing facilities which are due to start next week. He was presented with the John Perkin Cup, an award for his tireless service to the club and a desk as a thank you present. Mike said “It has been an absolute honour and privilege to be chairman of such a fantastic community rugby club and what ever has been achieved over the last four years is most definitely a team result from both a hard working management committee and the enthusiasm of countless supporters. My heartfelt thanks to all. I guess I now need to find something to do on my smart new desk ! ”
Chris Nixon, previously Facilities Director, was unanimously voted in as the new Chairman. Chris said, “Firstly, I want to take this opportunity to thank our outgoing Chairman, Mike Trethewey for all his hard work, enthusiasm and passion for the Club. I am thrilled with the opportunity to carry on his great work and look forward to exciting times ahead for Henley Rugby Football Club.”
The second award of the evening, Clubman of the year, was presented to Chris Parrott, Team Manager of the Vikings, for his dedication and hard work in developing a side that won 17 of 18 matches on their way to being crowned BBO League 2 Champions.
