Cross Country Success for Shiplake Primary School

The morning of Saturday 7 October provided the perfect weather conditions for  25 keen Cross Country runners from Shiplake CE Primary School to take part in the first race of the Chiltern Edge Winter Series.  This long-running series of Cross Country races is always extremely well attended,  competitive and great fun.

The children taking part from Shiplake ranged from Year One up to Year Four and for some of the youngest children, it was the first time they had experienced such an event. The children participated with great enthusiasm and were determined to score well for their school and they certainly did that! As well as winning a number of school team positions; Edward Cary came first in the Year One boys’ race, Lucy Lamacraft came second in the Year One girls’ race and Matilda Manly came first in the Year Four girls’ race. Many others including Finley Lea- Yr 2, Bethan Coulson Yr 3 and Alfred Cary Yr 3 all came fourth and narrowly missed out this time on a place on the podium but are looking forward to the next date in the series on Saturday 4th November.
