Thames Valley Special Constable Meets the Principal of Henley College

Last week Public Services students and Henley College Principal Satwant Deol, were delighted to meet former student Sophie Lightfoot who is now a Special Police Constable with Thames Valley Police.

Students were enthralled as Sophie told them about her experiences and all the career opportunities the Police have to offer. They went on to handle and discuss the equipment used including the baton and handcuffs.

A Triple Distinction graduate (D*D*D*) Sophie went on to relate how much theory on her BTEC Level 3 in Public Services helped her to gain her current position and focused her on her career goals.

Sophie graduated from her course in June managing to combine her studies with attending police training in order to qualify as a Special Constable. She was lucky enough to meet a member of the Thames Valley recruitment team at a careers talk organised by The Henley College careers advice team. They identified her as a proactive individual who was able to apply her knowledge which helped her in training.

The Henley College Principal, Satwant Deol agreed “Sophie was a highly motivated student whilst attending the Henley College. Achieving a triple Distinction in her BTEC Level 3 in Public Services and listening to the advice of our experienced teachers no doubt helped her to achieve her dream of a career in the Police force.”
