After months of what seems no action by SODC to get the fenced off spaces reopened in the King’s Road car park (4 for the installation of electrical charging points and 6-9 spaces next to King’s Arms Barn due to a wall collapse) and no action after this was reported on the Herald on the 6 September when they said they would “open the charging points as soon as possible” I decided to write an official complaint to SODC myself.
I received the following response:
- 4 number spaces blocked off to the area designated for electrical vehicle charging points – I have spoken to the responsible officer who informs me that SSE have been unable to trace their electrical supply cables which were shown on drawings as being located under the car park spaces. The project manager for these works has explained he is awaiting a decision to be be made on whether further excavations are required, however he has undertaken to have the car park surface made good and the fence panels removed as an interim measure.
- 9 number spaces blocked off adjacent to a Sovereign Housing Association party wall – Unfortunately part of the party wall between our car park and premises owned by Sovereign Housing Association collapsed which led us to immediately close the car park spaces in the immediate vicinity. Repair works will be undertaken by Sovereign since they own the wall. Our estates team are chasing for a completion date for wall repairs, however we have not yet received confirmation. I have asked that the matter be escalated to the Sovereign Regional manager and hope to receive by the beginning of next week. As soon as I receive a response from Sovereign Housing, I shall update you on their reply.
Let’s hope this time they keep to their word.
