Gillotts School Learning Support Assistant, Justine Small, is completing the Henley Swim Thames Marathon (previously known as ‘Bridge to Bridge’) a 14km open water swim from Henley to Marlow on 5 August in aid of the school’s Learning Support Department.
After a lengthy recovery from a couple of operations on her back, this challenge will be an amazing achievement for Justine to be able to swim again and she’s committed hours and months of training to be ready to take on this swim.
Justine has already raised £1800 through her Just Giving Crowdfunding page which will go towards purchasing resources, such as software programmes to guide study skills, technology to use during targeted interventions sessions and a few other useful tools for children with special learning needs.
Janice White, Gillotts Press spokesperson said, “This department does amazing work supporting students, some of whom have quite complex learning needs, to achieve the very best that they can. At these times of tight budgets, it is fantastic to see a member of staff taking on this challenge to help her department and the students who benefit from it.”
