Venues For This Year’s Living Calendar Announced
There’s only 25 sleeps to go until the first door of this year’s Henley Living Advent Calendar opens with the first venue being Henley Town Hall steps.
Organising the event for a 5th time, Richard Rodway of sponsors The Head Partnership Solicitors commented, “As always, I am delighted by people’s enthusiasm and efforts, without which the event would be an impossible undertaking. It’s great to even now be finding new venues that are able and willing to stage a performance, this year in the form of the Over 60s club, and I am delighted to be returning to Shaun Dickens @ the Boathouse for the first time in 4 years, to Henley College and to the Enterprise Park, courtesy of our new friends at Red Fox/Astral Photographics.”
Fundraising for a different charity each night, and then raising monies for the causes supported by the Mayor of Henley in the final night at St Mary’s Church, the event has steadily raised more and more for good causes each year, and in 2017 beat the previous year’s record total by more than 12.5%. “It will be a tall order to eclipse last year’s total” commented Richard, “but we have got some great performances to entertain people with, some great causes to support, and so what better way to spend an hour or so of an evening. If the weather is kind who knows, maybe it will be another bumper year”.
Performances typically range from acoustic performers and bands, to choirs of all sizes and styles, to dance troupes and dramatic performances and more of the same is expected in 2018. “There’s a massive leaning towards tried and trusted favourites” added Richard Rodway. “We have some new acts that I am really excited about and delighted to be introducing to the event, but it is great when you have some enthusiastic quality performers who have been involved before and want to return. That familiarity, the sense of community, the intimacy of the event, the interaction between the audience and the performer, is what makes the event so special and creates such a great atmosphere across the month”.
