The biggest number (63) brave swimmers took part in the ninth Boxing Day swim from Red Lion Lawn across to the Leander Club pontoon.
The swim was originally started by the Heller family, from Skirmett in 2010 saw just 6 of the family complete the swim. Before this year, the largest number of swimmers was 50 in 2015.
Many of the swimmers were from the Henley Open Water Swimming Club who regularly swim in the river on a weekend morning near the Flower Pot pub.
This year Calum Best was challenged by his friend Lynne Lambourne to do the swim. They were also joined by friend and Heat Radio presenter Jordan-Lee Pirrie. Calum said, “This year I climbed Mont Blanc but jumping in to the icy cold Thames in your swimmers on Boxing Day took nearly as much motivation! I’m all about a challenge and the community atmosphere in Henley was epic. Lovely to see everyone challenging themselves and having fun. I will be back!!” Lynne added, “A great way to do something fun and challenge yourself, it was very very cold but invigorating, a great lovely sense of Henley community too, Calum and I will be back next year!”
