The Halifax branch on Bell Street is closing on 27 June.
This is the second bank to announce their Henley branch closure. Santander announced in January that their Henley branch in Duke Street would be closing on 30 May as one of the 140 branches that would be closing nationwide.
In a Halifax research review report on their website it states that the counters in the Henley branch are 17% quieter than a year ago, only 4 account holders visit the branch regularly on a weekly basis and 112 on a monthly basis.
A Halifax spokesperson said: “We have made the difficult decision to close the Halifax, Henley-on-Thames branch due to the changing ways customers choose to bank with us, which has resulted in the branch being used less often.
“We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause, customers can continue to access their banking locally by visiting the nearby Post Office, which is less than half a mile from the branch. The nearest alternative branch is Marlow.”
Halifax customers will be able to withdraw money or check their balance, as well as pay in cheques and money to their account at the Post Office.
