Town Clerk to Leave For New Role at Didcot

Henley Town Clerk, Janet Wheeler has resigned from the role and will be leaving on the 14 June after 3 years.

She has taken the same position with Didcot town council, which is nearer to her home in Gloucestershire. Prior to joining Henley Town Council Janet was Town Clerk in Amersham for six years.

Janet said, “Henley was – and will always be a dream town to work for. My Uncle lived in Nicholas Road in the 1960s and I have enjoyed working amongst his haunts around town – especially the bookshop in Bell Street. Henley Town Council is less magical – the work as Town Clerk has been exhausting, demanding, challenging but often exciting and rewarding too. I think I have expanded my experience from the competent Town Clerk who arrived three years ago. My learning will now continue at Didcot – which has its own challenges as a Garden Town of the future.

I would like to thank all the Henley residents for allowing me to serve the town. I know I have given my absolute best to this place but there is still so much more to be done. Without doubt – I will miss this unique vibrant town with all my heart.”

The position has been advertised and applications for the role close on 13 May.
