It was another scorcher for Gillotts School sports day again this year last Wednesday with some great performances from the students despite the hot weather.
Competing in the 100m, 200m, 400m and relays, the students were racing for points for their houses. The field events took place on Tuesday afternoon.
Medals were given out to the top girl and boy competitors in each year group at the final assembly on Friday to the following students:
Year 7 – Harvey Herbert and Bronte Bennett
Year 8 – Matias Regueiro Rial and Freya Weiser
Year 9 – James Watts and Alice Pegle
Year 10 – Tristan Flower and Daisy Weiser
Darwin House won sports day for the third year in a row with 1734 points, followed by Orwell in second place with 1606 points and Pankhurst in third with 1537 points.
Head of PE, Hayley Rogers said, “All the students in all the houses did exceptionally well. There was a lovely atmosphere – the houses all made lots of effort and the year 10’s really led by example with their effort, commitment and participation in every event. It was a great afternoon and the PE department was were really pleased with all students who took part – very proud of them all.”
