Kingfisher Art Summer Exhibition of Paintings, Sculptures & Ceramics
Kingfisher Art will be bringing original work from over twenty artists to the Old Fire Station Gallery this week starting on Thursday (8 August) until 20 August including paintings, sculptures and ceramics.
Kingfisher Art was set up in 2017 by Rick Brownsill and Jane Wait as an online art gallery showcasing the wonderful established and emerging artists who they have met along the way. Rick has been a full-time picture framer now for over twenty years and is known to many artists, both local and further afield. He also has experience of curating a gallery in the beautiful historic town of Woodstock where he and Jane live. The decision to close this gallery and start up the new on line gallery together – called Kingfisher Art – was not taken lightly, but since the beginning of this journey, they have not looked back. Jane said, “We are very aware that people like to see a painting “in the flesh” before making a purchase so we are careful to always try and have access to works and go the extra mile to take a piece to a customer so it can be seen in situ before a decision is made.”
Another avenue that allows their work to be seen physically is by participating in Art Fairs and Rick and Jane will be attending the Fresh Contemporary Art Fair at Ascot Racecourse in September as well as taking a stand at the Affordable Art Fair at Battersea for their second year in October.
Pop up galleries are another fantastic way of showing their work and they take great enjoyment from setting up these shows in different towns. Rick and Jane are very excited about coming to Henley and meeting the customers who visit them. One of their artists will be the hugely talented Camilla Dowse who lives in Henley and is well known for her wonderful acrylic on gesso paintings (Wharfe Lane/Riverside painting above). See also the beautiful and delicate porcelain bowls of Oxford ceramicist Robyn Hardyman (right), the absolutely stunning bronze sculptures of Sophie Louise White (below), fantastic landscapes by Rupert Aker and much much more!
Kingfisher Art Summer Exhibition runs from 8–20 August and is open daily from 10.30am-5pm. Please join us for a glass of wine on Saturday 10 August from 12-4pm.
