Mountain Warehouse, an outdoor clothing and equipment shop is due to open in September/October in the old Paperchase shop on Bell Street after it will close on 19 August.
Paperchase opened in the old Clintons card shop in 2012 and it’s bright blue paintwork caused quite a stir on the Council at the time when it was proposed. This week Henley Town Council Planning Committee objected to the illuminated sign proposed by Mountain Warehouse.
A spokesperson for Paperchase said, “The Henley closure is part of the Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) process the company started in March this year. This was after a period of productive consultation with its landlords regarding a restructuring of the store portfolio and a better alignment of the rents of certain stores in proportion with footfall and trading.”
More good news on the high street if you missed it earlier in the week, Harrods are opening their first H Café on Market Place in the old Nicolas wine shop.
