A Mercedes car in the garage caught fire which led to the garage and adjoining shed catch fire. The Henley fire station crew were first on scene and were able to stop the spread of the fire to the house and other properties. Crews from Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Bucks worked hard on all sides to stop the fire.
Firefighter Michael Clarke said, “We cannot confirm how the fire started as this is under investigation. It was a dangerous job as part of the garage roof collapsed whilst we were dealing with the fire. We wish to thank some members of the public for helping out but also we want to ask that when there is an ongoing job that we ask people to stay out of the risk area. We know there is a temptation to take photos or videos but their safety is paramount.”
Two garages at a property off Badgemore Lane were on fire this afternoon, starting around 3.30pm
Four fire engines were at the scene which were from Henley, High Wycombe, Wallingford and Wargrave.
The fire is now under control.
A nearby resident Alan Gaynor who took the video footage above said, “The garages are original brick built ones. One of them has completely collapsed. They was a loud big explosion which was probably from something inside one of the garages.”
