Santa’s Sleigh Smashes All Time Record

Despite one of the wettest festive season for a few years, the Henley Lions Santa Sleigh has smashed it’s all time record, raising over £4,500.

The money raised will go towards Bishopwood’s School Christmas party and other local children’s charities.

Pam Philips who saved the sleigh 3 years ago after the Henley Round Table folded who used to run the sleigh said, “It’s FANTASTIC, AMAZING and FABULOUS. Yes I’m excited! In the three years that I’ve been involved I’ve found the whole experience uplifting, emotional, hilarious, and an insight into human nature that I’ve never really noticed before.”

Near 30 elves (volunteers) helped Santa collecting donations over the 8 nights the sleigh toured around Henley.  Unfortunately the sleigh didn’t go to Shiplake this year, it had to be called off that night because of the weather.  Pam sent a message to the volunteers saying, “This could not have been achieved without your help. Thank you all very much for your hard work. This has been the wettest of the last three years, and a number of you have gone home soaked, but still smiling.”

Our Editor, Michaela helped on one very wet night this year, she said, “Memories of my children being so excited when Santa came past our house over the years (they’re now grown up), it was really lovely to go out and be part of it this year and to see other children enjoy the magic that Santa and the sleigh bring.”
