Many residents were worried last week when there were two incidents of the police helicopter being deployed.
On Thursday (16 January) evening around 10pm the helicopter was flying over Gainsborough, Makins Road and Greys Road. A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said, “In terms of the activity on Thursday, this was in relation to a fear for welfare which was resolved safely.”
On Saturday (18 January) the helicopter was seen flying over Valley Road, Tilebarn Close, Deanfield Avenue between 1130 and midnight. A resident in Valley Road also confirmed that there were 3 police vehicles in the area. A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said, “Officers were called at around 8pm. In relation to this incident, David Wyatt, aged 46, of Castlemaine Avenue, Gillingham was charged with two counts of assault by beating, two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker and one count of obstructing/resisting a constable in execution of duty. He was remanded in custody to appear at Oxford Magistrates Court today (20/1).”
