Shiplake Pupils Sing Their Hearts Out at Wembley

Year 5 pupils from Shiplake Primary School sung their hearts out on Friday night (7 February) when they took part in Young Voices along with 7,000 other pupils at Wembley SSE Arena.

Young Voices is one of the largest school choir concerts in the world and the children were joined by professional musicians including Tony Hadley former lead singer from Spandau Ballet, The Shires and Ruti, the winner of The Voice in 2018.

Mrs White, Year 5 Teacher said, “It was an amazing opportunity to join thousands of other schools and perform in a famous arena alongside Tony Hadley, The Shires and Ruti. We started our ‘Musical’ journey before Christmas with the excitement of knowing the end goal for our hard work.  We had a lot of fun learning songs from different eras and working as a team to practice the accompanying dance moves. There was a wonderful atmosphere on the night and a sense of everyone coming together to perform as one; a truly inspiring experience.”

Pupil, Bethan Coulson said, ‘ I think Young Voices was a great experience and that it is a fun time to spend time dancing and singing with your friends! Young voices has definitely inspired me to sing and dance more. “ Alf Forbes added, “It was an amazing experience, you learn how to get rid of nerves and it gives you confidence.”
