Henley Youth Choir (HYC) have not to be beaten by the current Covid restrictions which rules out their rehearsals, events and performances but were struggling with their expenses and appealed to Henley Lions for a donation which they have kindly given.
Henley Youth Choir (HYC) was set up in 2014 as part of Henley Choral Society drawing together young singers aged 7-17 years old in Henley and surrounding areas and teaching them to sing together in a fun and sociable environment, whilst aspiring to sing to high standard under the guidance of professional musicians. There are 2 choirs (7-11 years old) and Seniors (12-17 years old).
HYC has continued to hold online rehearsals via Zoom throughout the pandemic and a virtual performance was held last year which was attended by 60 families including parents, relatives, siblings, the Mayor and Mayoress of Henley and members of Henley Choral Society.
The Lions were happy to help and Jo Dickson of HYC thanked members for their support. She said, “We are absolutely delighted to receive a donation from the Lions Club of Henley on Thames which enables us to carry on offering a high quality and fun singing experience for the young people of Henley and surrounding areas and share the joy of singing. We plan to expand our range of performances and workshops within the Henley local community.”
