Russell Brand Tries to Save Wallaby & Joey After His Dog Catches Them

According to reports in The Sun newspaper, Russell Brand, who lives in Hambleden, has been left devastated after his dog Bear, a German Shepherd, sadly mauled a wallaby to death last week.

The female wallaby who had a joey in his pouch was caught by the dog whilst out walking near the comedian’s home.  Locals who saw the incident said that Russell tried to save both the mother and the joey and was horrified by what had happened.  He managed to rescue the baby but sadly the mother died.

It is thought that the wild wallaby was one that escaped from the private collection of McAlpines in Fawley many years ago.

One local said: “Absolutely no one is blaming Russell or his dog – it’s just a horrible accident. In fact, Russell was the hero because he managed to save the little joey and it could have been far worse if he hadn’t stepped in so quickly. He is a very caring man with animals — he has plenty of pets and they’re all his babies. I understand he’s devastated over what happened. It’s really sad.”

Russell regularly shares photographs and videos of his dog on his Instagram. Only last month he shared a sweet video of his cats trying to stop Bear from eating his food, with one of them pulling his tail.
