Regatta Day 4 – Leander Club Through to 10+ Regatta Finals

Leander Club had a good semi finals day on Saturday (today) with over 10 crews reaching the Sunday finals up to the tea interval with five more crews in with a chance.

Leander athletes are in both the Men’s  and Women’s Single Sculls finals. Seb Devereux got through to the finals beating Alizadeh from Cambridge University and Lola Anderson beat Heaphy from University College, Cork ‘easily’.

In the Town Cup (Women’s Four) it will be an all Leander final as the A crew beat Nottingham RC & Leander Club crew by lengths and the B crew beat The Tideway Scullers’ School by 2 2/3 lengths

Georgie Brayshaw and Jess Leyden in the Women’s Doubles (Stonor Cup) beat the Dutch pair of Veldhuis & Vos from Hollandia Roeiclub by 1½ lengths. In the Women’s Pair, Sam Redgrave & Susie Dear beat Paine & Slabbert of Leander Club & University of London by 2¼ lengths.
The Men’s and Women’s Quad are both through to the final too, the Men beat The Tideway Scullers’ School by 2 lengths and the Women beat Oxford Brookes University by 2½ lengths.
In the Visitors’ (Men’s Four) Leander Club beat Oxford University by 1¾ lengths.
In the new Wargrave Challenge Cup (W8+) Leander Club reached the final beating Tyne A.R.C. by 3 lengths.  They’ll meet Thames Rowing Club A in the final.
There were two losses for Leander so far, the first was the in the Men’s 8 when they lost to Oxford Brookes University by just 2/3 length and second was in the Stewards’ Cup (M4-) when they were beaten by the Dutch, Hollandia Roeiclub by 1 length.

After the tea interval the last 3 crews missed out on the finals with Windsor Boys beat them narrowly by 1/2 length in the JM4x and Men’s Pair of Matthew Peters and Joe Willis lost to Parish and Sullivan from Cambridge University by 2 lengths.

The Women’s Eight beat Molesey B.C. & Leander Club by just ½ length and will meet a composite Oxford Brookes University & Queen’s University, Belfast in the final.
The 2021 Regatta ended for Henley Rowing Club crews in the semi finals today with the Junior Women’s Eights (JW8+) being beaten by Headington School by 2½ Lengths and in the Men’s Eights in the Thames Cup they were beaten by Thames Rowing Club by 1 1/2 lengths.
Shiplake College got to their first final of the Junior Women’s Quad beating Peterborough City by 3¾ lengths.  They will face local rivals Marlow RC in the final tomorrow.
