Jeux d’Esprit, the high spirited little production company, are back, live, in the King’s Arms Barn this November.
In this new show the presenter, Brian Cheadle, will introduce us to ten great European paintings projected on the walls while actors, Janice Selkirk, Jan Corby, Alok Tripathi, Peter O’Sullivan and Grainne Harling will read poems about the eccentric characters in those paintings. There’s the dragon with only two feet, the nude who likes to dance on the sand, the stick man lying, prone, on the wall and a group of Parisienne youth slowly dissolving in the sun as they take tea by the River Seine. There are, too, some more serious and thought provoking personalities in the collection.
The company has a long tradition of raising funds for the wonderful Chiltern Centre which provides respite care for severely disabled young adults. In this, their seventh year, they hope to reach a total target of £10 000. Donations can be made after each performance. Admission is free but booking is essential.
There are three shows – Saturday 27 November at 5-30 and 7-30pm and Sunday 28 November at 5-30pm.
