New Season of Opera Concerts at Christ Church Centre
Opera Prelude, a Henley based charity who are dedicated to advancing the understanding and accessibility of opera are hosting a series of lecture recitals and coffee concerts once a month at the Christ Church Centre starting on 28 January.
The charity has deep roots in our local community and are passionate about bringing opera to new audiences. Their friendly and informal events form a bridge across the footlights, providing education and entertainment both for seasoned aficionados and those fresh to the art form. They provide live and streamed presentation of educational lecture recitals, inspiring discussions, masterclasses, concerts, workshops and an intergenerational outreach programme in elderly care homes.
As well as the monthly live events at the Christ Church Centre there are additional performances programmed at St. Mary’s Church, Hart Street, and the Barn at Fawley. They have also performed for The Henley Festival, Henley Royal Regatta and at The Kenton Theatre.
Opera Prelude also provides a much needed platform of support enabling our young artists to hone their research skills, gain performance experience, network within the industry, continue their vocal development and fund other expenses after leaving Conservatoire. Unlike many other young artist programmes, they do not charge candidates to take part in auditions. They provide mentorship, recording sessions, professional development seminars, photo sessions for websites and publicity material and act both as referees and advocates. The majority of their young artists go on to forge successful careers, finding agents, winning competitions and performing with highly regarded opera companies.
Tickets are priced £30. For full details and to book go to https://operaprelude.org/whats-on-1
