Hawks Charity Netball Tournament Raises Over £1,000 for Macmillan

Henley Hawks Netball Club hosted their first charity tournament on Saturday at the courts on Rupert House School playing fields in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The tournament had been postponed twice due to Covid and Storm Eunice.  The charity was chosen as one of the members has recently completed chemo and had said how vital the support of the Macmillan nurses had been; always there for questions and acting as the gateway to the various specialists.  She said, “They were totally indispensable.”

Six teams of mixed teams (3 men and 4 women) played against each other with Team McBalls coming out winners with “Beas Balls” runners-up.

Totie Southwell said, “The tournament raised over £1000 which is brilliant!  I’d like to thank Sarah Lasenby, a local pilates teacher for coming along to do the warm-up, to Bucks University physio students for offering their services between games and to everyone who donated raffle prizes and to Nicola Baker bakes who made cupcakes to sell.”
