Join Starlight Children’s Foundation and Henley Swim for a ‘Play Day’ Pre-Swim
The Selkie Henley Classic iconic 2.1km upstream swim on Sunday 26 June is partnering with the children’s charity, Starlight Children’s Foundation, again this year with an elevated offering treating swimmers to some family and friends’ fun when they register the day before.
From 2pm, swimmers and their support group can arrive at the waterside ready to pitch their tent if they are camping, pick up their swim registration pack for the next morning, grab some food and kick back with the stunning view ready for the next day. The event village will be full of ‘play’ for children and adults alike, hosted by the events charity partner as they bring to life their incredible offering for children with serious illness and their families.
There will fun activities and food stalls including face painting, treasure hunt/play trail, giant games, arts and crafts, football penalty shoot out and music.
Head of Public Fundraising for Starlight Children’s Foundation, Sam Butler explains: “We are excited to engage with swimmers in a fun meaningful way that brings to life our work and we’re really thrilled to be holding our first ever pre-swim Play Day. Starlight is passionate about championing the importance of play and defending every seriously ill child’s right to it. We hope that with your help we can raise funds whilst adding a celebration to the swim weekend.”
The Selkie Henley Classic has partnered with Starlight Children’s Foundation to raise funds to help preserve childhood for seriously ill children. The upstream 2.1km open water swim is held on the famous Henley Royal Regatta course, the weekend before the regatta starts. Most notably, the event begins at dawn as the first waves set off shortly after 4am.
Swimmers will be encouraged to combine their swim challenge with a fundraising one. Read more about the Selkie Henley Classic event (26 June 2022) and sign up for your FREE charity swim place here.
