John Sets Himself a Platinum Challenge

John Green from the Henley & Peppard Branch of the Royal British Legion will be taking on another walking challenge to complete 70kms in 70 hours to raise money for the charity starting on 23 August.

John said, “In 2021 I raised funds for the RBL by marching 100kms in full WW1 uniform. I had been inspired by the late Sir “Captain” Tom’s fundraising for the NHS. In this Platinum Jubilee year, at the age of 87, I plan another challenge. This time I will walk 70kms in 70 hours in full WW1 battledress. For 3 days I will venture from my home in Maidensgrove, South Oxfordshire, on a circular route of 24km via the Blue Tin Farm Shop and the Black Horse pub in Checkendon. Your support in this challenge would be much appreciated as there is a never ending call for funds to help former service personnel and their dependants in need.”
